From any location in Cape Fear Coast, take NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 for approximately 40 miles. You will pass through several small towns and scenic coastal areas. Once you reach Buxton, look for the signs directing you to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Turn onto Lighthouse Road, and the lighthouse will be on your right at 46379 Lighthouse Rd, Buxton, NC 27920. Parking is available on-site, but be aware that there may be a small fee.

If you are using public transportation, start by taking a bus from your location in Cape Fear Coast to the nearest bus terminal in Manteo. From Manteo, you can catch a Dare County Public Transit bus that heads towards Buxton. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as the frequency may vary. Upon reaching Buxton, you can either walk or take a short taxi ride to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse located at 46379 Lighthouse Rd, Buxton, NC 27920. Note that public transportation may take longer and is subject to the bus schedule.

For those who are adventurous, biking is an option along NC-12. Start your journey from any point along the Cape Fear Coast, heading south on NC-12. Once you reach Buxton, turn onto Lighthouse Road to arrive at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
