Car
If you are traveling by car, head south on NC-12 from Nags Head or any northern Outer Banks destination. Continue driving along NC-12 for approximately 40 miles until you reach Hatteras. The Hatteras Island Ocean Center is located at 57204 NC-12, Mile Marker 71. Look for the signs as you approach the center, which will be on your left. There is ample parking available on-site.

If you prefer public transportation, you can use the Dare County Public Transportation system, which offers a bus service that runs the length of the Outer Banks. Check their schedule for the 'Hatteras Island' route. Once you board the bus, stay on until you reach the Hatteras Village stop. From there, it's about a 0.5-mile walk to the Hatteras Island Ocean Center, heading north along NC-12. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary seasonally.
