From Boone, NC, take US-421 South to Wilkesboro. Merge onto US-221 South to reach I-77 South. Continue on I-77 South towards Charlotte. Take exit 13 to merge onto I-485 Outer towards Columbia. Merge onto I-85 South and take exit 24 for US-64 East towards Asheboro. Follow signs for US-64 E and NC-12 N. Continue on NC-12 N until you reach Ocracoke, NC. This route is approximately 300 miles and may take around 5-6 hours depending on traffic.

To reach North Carolina Highway 12 using public transportation, begin by taking a Greyhound bus from Boone, NC to Ocracoke, NC. The bus ride will take approximately 6-8 hours with possible transfers in larger cities such as Charlotte or Raleigh.
