Car
From the center of Pisgah National Forest, head north on US-276 N. Continue on US-276 N for approximately 16 miles until you reach the intersection with NC-80 N. Turn left onto NC-80 N and drive for about 10 miles. You will see a sign for Mount Mitchell State Park. Turn right onto NC-128, and continue for about 5 miles until you reach the park entrance at 2388 NC-128, Burnsville, NC 28714. Note that there is a parking fee of $7 per vehicle.

Currently, there are no direct public transportation options to Mount Mitchell State Park from within Pisgah National Forest. The nearest bus service operates in Asheville. If you're starting in Asheville, take the Greyhound or a local shuttle service to Burnsville. From Burnsville, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Mount Mitchell State Park, which is approximately 16 miles away. The taxi or rideshare could cost around $30-$50 depending on the service.
