    From Badlands National Park, exit towards US-18 W. Drive west on US-18 for approximately 45 miles until you reach Hot Springs. In Hot Springs, watch for the signs for The Mammoth Site. Turn left onto US-18 BYP, and you will find The Mammoth Site at 1800 US-18 BYP. Parking is available on-site and is free.

  • Public Transportation

    There are no direct public transportation options from Badlands National Park to The Mammoth Site. However, you can take a bus from Wall, SD to Rapid City. From Rapid City, you would need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Hot Springs (approximately 55 miles). Once in Hot Springs, use local transportation or walk to The Mammoth Site, located at 1800 US-18 BYP. Be prepared for additional costs for the taxi or rideshare service.

  • Bicycle

    For the adventurous, you can bike from Badlands to Hot Springs. The ride is approximately 45 miles along US-18. Be sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water and snacks. Once in Hot Springs, follow the signs for The Mammoth Site on US-18 BYP. This option may take several hours and is recommended for experienced cyclists.
