    Start from downtown Cavalier at the intersection of Main St and 3rd Ave. Head east on 3rd Ave until you reach County Road 12. Turn left onto County Road 12 and continue for approximately 5 miles until you reach the intersection with County Rd 37. Turn right onto County Rd 37 and follow it for about 1 mile. The Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site will be on your left.

    Begin at the Cavalier City Park. Walk southeast on 3rd St towards Main St. Continue south on Main St until you reach County Road 12. From there, you will need to walk approximately 5 miles along County Road 12 until you reach the intersection with County Rd 37. Turn right onto County Rd 37 and walk for about 1 mile. The Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site will be on your left. Be prepared for a long walk and make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
