Start at the center of Ålesund, near the main square (St. Olav's Square). Head towards the waterfront and walk along the promenade (Kai). Continue walking until you reach the intersection with St. Olavs gate. Turn left onto St. Olavs gate and walk straight until you reach a small park on your right. This park is called 'Parkeringsplassen'. From there, look for the sign leading to Sukkertoppen, which indicates the starting point of the trail. Follow the trail markers that guide you through the forested path up to Sukkertoppen. The hike takes approximately 35 minutes if you are in good condition.
