If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city, Bodø. Take the E6 highway north towards Fauske. After about 60 kilometers, take the exit onto the E10 highway towards Lofoten. Continue on the E10 for approximately 30 kilometers and then take the exit for the Rv 812 road towards Leinesfjord. Follow Rv 812 for around 15 kilometers until you reach the village of Leinesfjord. Sørskottinden is located just outside Leinesfjord. Look for signs or use a GPS device with the coordinates 67.8185° N, 14.8278° E to navigate to the parking area at the base of the mountain.

Public Transportation

To reach Sørskottinden using public transportation, take a bus from Bodø to Fauske. From Fauske, you can catch another bus heading towards Leinesfjord. Buses run several times a day, but it’s advisable to check the current schedule on the website of Nordland Trafikkselskap. Once you arrive in Leinesfjord, you may need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to reach the trailhead of Sørskottinden. Be sure to check local bus schedules for the most accurate and up-to-date information, and consider purchasing a bus pass which typically costs around 100 NOK for a one-way trip.
