Car
If you're traveling by car, you'll want to navigate to Tengelfjord located at 8325 Tengelfjord. From Bodø, take the E6 highway north. After approximately 170 km, take the exit toward Fauske. Continue on the E6 for about 50 km until you reach the town of Rognan. From Rognan, follow the signs for the FV17 road, which follows the coast and offers stunning views. Continue on the FV17 for about 30 km until you reach the turnoff for Tengelfjord. Follow the signs to reach the fjord area. Ensure you have a map or GPS as some areas may have limited signage.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Bodø to Fauske. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once in Fauske, transfer to a local bus that heads towards Rognan and then to Tengelfjord. Check the local bus schedules as they may vary. The total journey could take around 3-4 hours depending on transfer times. Make sure to have a bus pass handy, which can be purchased at kiosks or online.
Combination of Car and Ferry
Another scenic route is to drive from Bodø to Sund, then take a ferry to the island of Landegode. After arriving at Landegode, drive across the island to reach the other side where you can take the ferry back towards the mainland near Tengelfjord. This route can be longer and may incur additional ferry costs, so check the ferry schedules and prices in advance. The ferry ride offers beautiful views of the fjords.
