Getting there

Bus

To reach Himakona in Nedstrand from Stavanger, start by making your way to the Stavanger Bus Station (Stavanger rutebilstasjon). From there, take the bus route 11 towards 'Haugesund' or 'Kopervik' and get off at the stop 'Nedstrand'. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Nedstrand bus stop, you will need to walk about 1.5 kilometers uphill to reach the peak of Himakona. Follow the signs for 'Himakona' and enjoy the scenic views as you hike.

Ferry and Bus

Another option is to take a ferry from Stavanger to Tau. Head to the Stavanger ferry terminal and board the ferry to Tau, which takes around 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Tau, exit the ferry terminal and catch the bus towards 'Nedstrand'. Make sure to check the bus schedule as it may vary. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the Nedstrand bus stop. From there, it’s a 1.5-kilometer hike uphill to Himakona. Follow the marked trails leading to the peak.

Bicycle

For the more adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Stavanger. Start at the Stavanger city center and cycle towards the coastline following the signs for 'Nedstrand'. The cycle route may take you through beautiful countryside and along the coast, covering a distance of approximately 25 kilometers. Upon reaching Nedstrand, follow the trail signs to Himakona, which will require a short hike uphill. Make sure you have a map or GPS for assistance during your ride.
