Getting there

Car

If you are driving from Trondheim, start by taking the E6 highway heading south towards Stjørdal. Continue on the E6 for approximately 28 kilometers. Take the exit towards Stjørdal (Exit 2) and merge onto Fv26. Follow Fv26 for about 4 kilometers until you reach the signs for Hegra Fortress. There is a parking area available near the fortress, and parking is generally free.

Public Transportation

To reach Hegra Fortress via public transport from Trondheim, take the Trøndelag Kollektivtrafikk bus from the Trondheim bus station to Stjørdal. The bus ride takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Stjørdal, transfer to bus line 420 towards Hegra. The journey will take around 15 minutes. Get off at the Hegra bus stop, and from there, it is a short walk (about 1 kilometer) to the fortress. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as services may vary.
