If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Use the main park roads to navigate towards Northfield, OH 44067. Follow signs for Route 8 North, then take the exit for Route 82 East. Once on Route 82, continue until you reach the intersection with Highland Road. Turn left onto Highland Road, and continue for approximately 1.5 miles. Look for the Red Lock Trailhead parking area on your right. Parking is free and there are no additional costs.

If you prefer public transportation, take the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad from any of the stops within the park. You can board at the Akron Northside Station or any other convenient station. Make sure to check the schedule for the train times. Once you arrive at the Peninsula Station, take the 'Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad' shuttle service (which may require a small fee, approximately $5-$10) to Highland Road. From Highland Road, it is a short walk (about 0.5 miles) to the Red Lock Trailhead. Look for signs directing you to the trailhead.

For those who enjoy cycling, you can use the Towpath Trail. Begin at any point along the Towpath and head towards Northfield. If you are near the Boston Store Visitor Center, follow the Towpath south which will lead you to the Red Lock Trailhead. The route is scenic and flat, making it a pleasant ride. Ensure that you have a bike lock and be aware of your surroundings as you approach the parking area where you can secure your bicycle.
