Car
If you are traveling by car, start from downtown Dayton, Ohio. Head east on E 3rd St toward S Main St. Continue onto US-35 E, then merge onto I-75 S toward Cincinnati. Take exit 54B for US-4 N toward Springfield. Continue on US-4 N, then take exit 51 for OH-444 N toward Wright-Patterson AFB. Stay on OH-444 N, and follow the signs to Wright-Patterson AFB. Once you reach the base, follow the signs to Huffman Prairie Flying Field located on Pylon Rd. There is no fee for parking.
Public Transportation
To reach Huffman Prairie Flying Field via public transportation, start by taking the RTA bus #1 from downtown Dayton to the Wright Stop Plaza. From there, transfer to bus #20 towards Wright-Patterson AFB. The bus will drop you off near the entrance to Wright-Patterson AFB. Note that you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles from the bus stop to the Huffman Prairie Flying Field. Be prepared for a short walk, and check the RTA schedule for bus times. A one-way fare on the RTA is approximately $1.75.
Bicycle
For those who prefer to bike, start at the RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton. Follow the Great Miami Riverway Trail north, which connects to various routes leading to Wright-Patterson AFB. After reaching the base, follow the road signs to Huffman Prairie Flying Field located on Pylon Rd. This option is scenic and allows you to enjoy the outdoors, but be prepared for some road riding once you approach the base.
