From the center of Kiamichi Country, head south on US-271 S towards the town of Wilburton. After approximately 15 miles, take the exit for US-270 W. Continue on US-270 W for about 20 miles until you reach the intersection with OK-1. Turn left onto OK-1 N. Follow OK-1 N for about 10 miles. You will see signs for Winding Stair Mountain National Recreation Area. Turn right onto Winding Stair Road, which will lead you directly into the recreation area.
