Start at the Downtown Bend Transit Station located at 1st St and Greenwood Ave. Catch the Cascades East Transit bus #5 (Bend-Redmond) heading towards Redmond. Get off at the stop at the intersection of 27th St and Murphy Rd. From there, walk south on 27th St until you reach the entrance to the Deschutes National Forest. Continue walking south into the forest area until you reach the trailhead for Boyd Cave. The cave is located approximately 1.5 miles from the forest entrance.
Bicycle
If you are comfortable cycling, you can rent a bike at one of the local rental shops in Bend. Start from the Old Mill District and head east on the Deschutes River Trail. Follow the trail going south until you reach the intersection with the road leading into the Deschutes National Forest. Continue along the road until you find the trailhead for Boyd Cave. The total distance is around 5 miles, and the ride offers beautiful views of the river and surrounding landscapes.
Walking
For those who prefer walking, start at the Bend Public Library located at 601 NW Wall St. Walk south on Wall St until you reach the intersection with Franklin Ave. Turn left on Franklin Ave and continue walking until you reach 27th St. Turn right on 27th St and walk south until you arrive at the entrance to the Deschutes National Forest. From there, follow the path into the forest and walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach Boyd Cave. The total walking distance is about 4 miles from the library.
