Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Highway 97. From the center of Prineville, take NE 3rd St and turn onto NE McKay St. Continue onto NE 3rd St and then turn right onto US-26 E. Follow US-26 E for about 12 miles until you reach the junction with OR-97. Merge onto OR-97 N, and after approximately 10 miles, take the exit for Smith Rock State Park (Exit 136). Follow the signs for Smith Rock State Park, and you will reach the entrance. There is a parking fee of $5 for day use, which can be paid at the self-service payment station.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, the nearest bus service is from the Central Oregon Breeze, which connects Prineville to other cities. You will need to take the bus to Redmond first. Once in Redmond, you can use a rideshare service or a taxi to reach Smith Rock State Park. The total travel time may vary, but expect it to take a few hours due to connections and waiting times. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance to ensure a smooth trip.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider biking to Smith Rock State Park. From the city of Prineville, head east on US-26 and then take the designated bike routes that will lead you to the park. It is about a 12-mile ride and will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow all traffic laws. There are bike racks available at the park.
