Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From downtown Hood River, walk to the nearest bus stop on Oak Street near the Hood River County Library. Take the Columbia Area Transit (CAT) bus Route 1 towards the 'Mt. Hood' destination. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will need to transfer to the Mt. Hood Express at the Government Camp stop. Once you arrive at the Government Camp stop, Timberline Lodge is about a 5-minute walk up E Timberline Road. Follow the road signs directing you to Timberline Lodge.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Hood River. Start your ride on the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. Follow the trail east towards Mount Hood. After approximately 12 miles, you'll reach the junction for OR-35. Continue on OR-35 for another 8 miles until you arrive at Government Camp. From there, head south on E Timberline Road for about 2 miles to reach Timberline Lodge.

    If you are feeling adventurous and want to hike, you can take the trail from Government Camp. Start at the Government Camp Visitor Center, located at 88800 E Government Camp Loop. Head east on the Timberline Trail. The hike is about 5 miles with moderate elevation gain. Follow the signs leading to Timberline Lodge. This option is best for those who are prepared for a hike and check the weather conditions before heading out.
