Car
From anywhere in Jefferson County, head towards US-97 S. If you're near Madras, take the exit onto US-26 W towards Portland. Continue on US-26 for approximately 37 miles. You'll pass through the town of Welches. Look for signs indicating the Mt. Hood National Forest area. Once you reach the junction with OR-35, turn left onto OR-35 S. After about 11 miles, look for the Tamanawas Falls trailhead on the right, just past the Tamanawas Falls parking area. The parking lot may have a small fee, typically around $5 for a day pass.

Using public transportation can be a bit challenging, as there are no direct routes to Tamanawas Falls. You can take a bus from Bend, OR to Hood River, OR via the Cascades East Transit. From Hood River, you might need to rely on a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Tamanawas Falls area. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently. Always consider that you'll need to arrange for return transportation as well.

Once you arrive at the Tamanawas Falls trailhead, you'll need to hike approximately 1.5 miles along a well-marked trail to reach the falls.
