Car
To reach Lake of the Woods by car from Salem, Marion County, head east on OR-22 E for approximately 30 miles. Merge onto US-20 E and continue for about 9 miles. Turn left onto OR-126 E and follow for about 17 miles. Then, turn right onto OR-58 S and continue for around 30 miles. Finally, turn left onto Lake of the Woods Road, and follow the signs to the lake. The total journey is approximately 90 miles and may take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking the Salem-Keizer Transit bus to the Salem Amtrak station. From there, board an Amtrak train to Klamath Falls. After arriving at Klamath Falls, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to Lake of the Woods, which is about 30 miles away. Be sure to check the schedule for both the bus and train as they may not run frequently, and factor in additional costs for the train fare and taxi service.

For the more adventurous, biking to Lake of the Woods is an option. Starting from Salem, take the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway heading southeast. The route will take you through beautiful landscapes over approximately 75 miles. Ensure you have proper gear, sufficient water, and food supplies, as well as a map or GPS device to navigate through rural areas and back roads. This journey can take a full day or more, depending on your biking speed and breaks.
