Car
If you are starting from the Mt. Hood area, take US-26 E (also known as the Mount Hood Highway). Continue on US-26 E for approximately 37 miles until you reach the junction with OR-216 E. Merge onto OR-216 E and follow it for about 3 miles until you reach US-97 N. Merge onto US-97 N and drive for approximately 26 miles until you reach the exit for Bend. Take the exit for Bend and merge onto US-20 E. Continue on US-20 E for about 12 miles. You'll see signs for Lava River Cave; turn onto Cottonwood Rd and follow it for 2 miles. The cave entrance will be on your right. Note that parking at the cave may incur a fee depending on the season.

Starting from the Mt. Hood area, you can take a Greyhound bus or Cascade East Transit to Bend. Once in Bend, you can use the local public transit system, Bend Area Transit (BAT), to get to the vicinity of Lava River Cave. However, keep in mind that public transit may not go directly to the cave entrance. You would need to use a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to cover the remaining distance of about 20 miles from downtown Bend to Lava River Cave.
