From the center of Gilgit, head towards the Gilgit River and cross the bridge towards the northern side. Once you cross the bridge, follow the signs leading to the Karakoram Highway (KKH) that runs parallel to the river. Continue walking along the KKH for approximately 15-20 minutes until you reach the bus station. There, you can find local buses or shared vans heading to Karimabad, which is the town where Baltit Fort is located.

Once you arrive at the bus station in Gilgit, look for buses or vans that display 'Karimabad' as their destination. The fare is generally affordable. The journey to Karimabad takes about 1-1.5 hours. During the ride, enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Inform the driver or conductor that you want to go to Baltit Fort; they will drop you off at the nearest point.

After getting off at Karimabad, head towards the main road. You will see signs pointing towards Baltit Fort. The fort is located uphill, so be prepared for a short but steep walk.
