Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Neelum Valley, start from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, and head northeast on the Neelum Valley Road (N-15). This scenic route will take you through beautiful landscapes and small villages. After approximately 40 kilometers, you will reach the town of Keran, which is the gateway to Neelum Valley. Continue driving along the river for about 20 more kilometers until you reach Sharda, where you can stop to explore the historical Sharda Peeth ruins. From Sharda, proceed towards Kel, which is about 15 kilometers away. The road can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully. Finally, from Kel, you can access various trekking routes and nearby valleys.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take a shared van or bus from Muzaffarabad to Neelum Valley. Look for the vans that head towards Keran. The fare is typically around 300 PKR. The journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach Keran, you can catch another van to Sharda for about 150 PKR. After exploring Sharda, you can find vans heading to Kel for around 200 PKR. Ensure to check the schedule as services may be limited, especially during peak tourist seasons.

• Trekking

  For those looking for adventure, several trekking routes lead to stunning locations within Neelum Valley. From Kel, you can trek to the picturesque area of Arang Kel, which is about a 2-hour hike. You can hire a local guide at Kel or arrange a horse ride to make the trek easier. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as there are limited facilities along the route. The views along the trek are breathtaking, so have your camera ready!
