Toli Peer: A Serene Escape into Nature

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from either Muzaffarabad or another location in Neelum Valley. Make your way towards the Neelum Valley Road, which will lead you towards the town of Sharda. The total distance from Muzaffarabad to Toli Peer is approximately 40 kilometers. Once you reach Sharda, continue on the Neelum Valley Road until you see the sign for Toli Peer Road. Turn onto Toli Peer Road, which is a narrow and winding road, so proceed with caution. After about 13 kilometers, you will reach Toli Peer, where you can find parking available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Muzaffarabad to Sharda. Buses leave regularly from the main bus terminal in Muzaffarabad and the fare is usually around PKR 300-500. Once you arrive in Sharda, you can hire a local jeep or taxi to take you to Toli Peer. The jeep ride will cost roughly PKR 1500-2000, depending on the negotiation and number of passengers. Be prepared for a bumpy ride, as the road can be challenging. Ensure you confirm the return trip with the driver, as jeep services may not be available frequently.

• Hiking

  For the more adventurous travelers, an option is to hike to Toli Peer from Sharda. This trek is approximately 7 kilometers long and takes around 2-3 hours, depending on your fitness level. The trail is marked and offers stunning views of the Neelum Valley. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and carry sufficient water and snacks. While this option is free, it is advisable to hire a local guide for around PKR 1000-1500 to help navigate the trail and enrich your experience with local knowledge.
