Getting There

Trekking
Start your journey from Hussaini Chowk in Skardu, where you can find various trekking agencies that offer guided treks to K2 Base Camp. Begin by heading towards the Skardu Valley by following the main road west from the Hussaini Chowk. After approximately 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the Skardu Airport area, where you can possibly join a group trek or hire a local guide. Ensure you have the necessary permits and gear before proceeding.

Trekking
From Skardu, the trek to K2 Base Camp typically starts from the Askole village. You can arrange for a jeep ride to Askole, which is about a 4-5 hour drive. However, since you are not using a car, you will need to trek to Askole. It is recommended to take a local guide, as the route can be challenging. Follow the trails leading through the beautiful landscapes and local villages, enjoying the scenic views along the way.

Trekking
Once you reach Askole, you will officially start your trek to K2 Base Camp. The trek is approximately 9-12 days depending on your pace and the routes chosen. Follow the established paths through the stunning landscapes of the Baltoro Glacier and various camps, including Bardumal, Paiju, and Urdukus. Make sure to acclimatize properly by spending adequate time at each camp.

After several days of trekking, you will finally reach K2 Base Camp, located at approximately 5,400 meters (17,700 feet) above sea level.
