Walking
Start from the main bazaar in Skardu. Head northwest towards the Skardu River, taking the road parallel to the river. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the bridge over the Skardu River. Cross the bridge, and upon exiting, turn left onto the road leading to Chonda. Follow this road for approximately 7 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views along the way. You will eventually reach the Chonda area, where you can ask locals for directions to the Chunda Valley View Point, which is about 2 kilometers further up the road. The final stretch will be a gentle climb that offers stunning views of the valley.
Trekking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can embark on a trekking route from Skardu. Start from the Skardu city center and head towards the Shigar Valley. Take the trail that leads to Chonda, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the city center. The trek involves some elevation gain, so ensure you're prepared with adequate gear and water. Once you reach Chonda, follow the earlier mentioned directions to the View Point.
Local Transport
From Skardu, you can take a local jeep or motorbike to Chonda. Many locals offer rides, and you can easily find them near the main bazaar. Negotiate the fare (usually around 300-500 PKR depending on the season and demand). The ride will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you reach Chonda, follow the last 2 kilometers on foot to the View Point.
