From Skardu, start your trek towards the K2 Base Camp. Begin at Hussaini Chowk, near the Star Market, where you can purchase any last-minute supplies. Head south on the main road leading out of Skardu, which is marked towards Shigar Valley. Continue along the road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the Shigar River. Follow the riverbank to the west until you arrive at the village of Shigar. This trek typically takes about 5-6 hours, so ensure you have ample water and snacks.

Once you reach Shigar, you can rest and prepare for the next leg of your journey. From Shigar, continue trekking along the route that leads towards Askole. This path will take you through beautiful landscapes and local villages. The trek from Shigar to Askole usually takes around 8-10 hours, so plan for an overnight stay in Askole. Make sure to follow the markers or consult with local guides to stay on the correct path.
