Car
If you have a car, start your journey from Mingora, the largest city in Swat Valley. Head northwest on the Saidu Sharif Road, which will take you towards the scenic Kalam Valley. Continue driving for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Madyan. From Madyan, take the road that leads towards Bahrain and then follow the signs towards Kalam. After about 15 kilometers, keep an eye out for a small road on your right that leads to Donchar Gul Waterfall. Park your car at a safe location and follow the footpath down to the waterfall, which is about a 15-minute walk from the parking area. Ensure you have a reliable map or GPS as some roads may not be well-marked.
Public Transportation
To reach Donchar Gul Waterfall using public transport, take a bus or a shared van (known locally as 'hiace') from Mingora to Madyan. The ticket cost is usually around PKR 200-300. Upon arriving in Madyan, you can hire a local taxi or a motorcycle rickshaw to take you towards the waterfall. The fare for the taxi may range from PKR 500 to PKR 1000, depending on negotiation and distance. The drop-off point will be near the start of the footpath leading to the waterfall. From there, it’s about a 15-minute hike down to the waterfall, so wear comfortable shoes.
