If you're driving from Gamboa, head west on the Gamboa Road (also known as the Gamboa-Panama Highway) towards the Pan-American Highway. Continue straight for about 13 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the Pan-American Highway. Turn left onto the Pan-American Highway heading towards Colon. After approximately 4 kilometers, take the exit to Portobelo. Follow the signs to Portobelo for about 10 kilometers. Once you arrive in Portobelo, look for signs directing you to the Fuerte de San Fernando, located at H86M+CV7. There is parking available near the fortress.

To reach Fuerte de San Fernando using public transportation, start at the Gamboa bus stop. Take a bus heading towards Colon. Inform the bus driver that you want to get off at Portobelo. The journey will take around 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive in Portobelo, ask for directions to the fortress, as it is well-known among locals.
