Walking
From the center of Portobelo, head south on Calle 1ra. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Avenida Central. Turn right onto Avenida Central and walk straight for about 10 minutes. You will pass several local shops and restaurants. Keep an eye on the signs directing towards the Panama Canal. Once you reach the waterfront, you will see the entrance to the Panama Canal. Follow the signs to the visitor center.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the main square in Portobelo. Head south on Calle 1ra for approximately 1 kilometer. Once you reach Avenida Central, turn right and continue until you reach the waterfront. The bike ride should take around 5-10 minutes depending on your speed. Look for signs indicating the Panama Canal; the entrance will be visible from the waterfront area.
Local Bus
Catch a local bus heading towards Colón from the bus stop near the main square in Portobelo. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Panama Canal. The journey might take around 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the visitor center. Be sure to have small change ready for the bus fare.
