Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Goroka, head east on the main road (Kundiawa Road). Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the Goroka Market. This is a popular landmark. Once you arrive at the market, look for a path heading northeast that leads you towards the hills. Follow this path for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the turn-off that leads towards Lapegu Forestry Station. The path will be marked with local signs. Continue on this path for another 500 meters, and you should see the entrance to Lapegu Forestry Station on your right.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from Goroka's central market area. Head east on Kundiawa Road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will have to navigate through traffic, so be cautious. After passing the market, take a left at the fork towards the hills, which will lead you to a less trafficked area. Follow the uphill path for about 1 kilometer. You’ll come across a sign pointing towards Lapegu Forestry Station. Take this path, which will lead you to the entrance of the station about 500 meters away.

  • Local Transport (Bicycle Taxi)

    You can also hire a local bicycle taxi (known as a 'bicycle hire') from Goroka’s central area. Ask the driver to take you to Lapegu Forestry Station. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey. The driver will take you along Kundiawa Road and drop you off at the entrance to the Lapegu Forestry Station.
