Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major city in Chaco Austral, such as Asunción. Head northeast on Route 3 toward the town of Borja. Once in Borja, follow the signs toward Isla Yvate. The road will turn into a gravel path; continue for approximately 8 km until you reach Salto Cristal. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as some sections may be unpaved.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, begin your journey from Asunción. Take an intercity bus to the town of Borja. Several companies operate this route; the bus ride will take about 3-4 hours. Once in Borja, you can take a local taxi or a moto-taxi to reach Salto Cristal. The taxi ride will take about 20 minutes and should cost around 30,000 PYG (Paraguayan Guarani). Be sure to confirm the fare before starting your ride.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and have arrived in Borja, you can walk to Salto Cristal. It is about 8 km from the town center, and the path is mostly flat. Follow the gravel road towards Isla Yvate. Be prepared for the sun and bring water, as it may take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to walk there.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Borja. Follow the same route as the walking path, heading towards Isla Yvate. The ride is approximately 8 km and should take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring water.
