Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by determining your current location in the Appalachian Mountains. Use a GPS navigation system or a mapping app to set your destination to '401 Fishing Creek Valley Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112'. If you're on I-81, take exit 70 onto PA-39 E. Continue on PA-39 E for approximately 6 miles. Then turn right onto Fishing Creek Valley Rd. The Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area will be on your left. Make sure to check for any parking fees or requirements upon arrival.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, use a combination of bus and taxi services. First, take a Greyhound or Megabus to Harrisburg, PA. Once you arrive at the Harrisburg Transportation Center, you can take the Capital Area Transit (CAT) bus route that takes you closest to the preserve. Please note that the preserve is approximately 3 miles from the bus stop, so you may need to use a rideshare service or a taxi to reach your final destination. From downtown Harrisburg, head west on Market St, then take PA-22 W which leads into Fishing Creek Valley Rd. The area is about a 6-mile ride from the center of Harrisburg. Remember to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, especially during warm weather.
