If you are driving from a nearby city, such as Lancaster, PA, take Route 30 West. Merge onto Route 283 North and follow signs for Harrisburg. Take Exit 2 for Route 741 toward Millersville. Continue on Route 741 for about 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Chickies Hill Road. Turn left onto Chickies Hill Road and follow it until you reach the parking area near Chickies Ridge. Note that parking may have costs associated, typically around $5-$10 depending on the season.
Public Transportation to Car
If you are using public transportation, take a train or bus to Lancaster, PA. From Lancaster, you can use a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) or rent a car to reach Chickies Ridge. The rideshare cost from downtown Lancaster to Chickies Ridge may range from $15 to $30 based on traffic and time of day.
Hiking
For those who are already in the Appalachian Mountains and want to hike to Chickies Ridge, you can start from the Chickies Rock Park entrance. Follow the marked trails that lead up to the ridge. The hike is moderate, taking approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and carry water, as there are no facilities along the trail.
Bike
For the more adventurous, biking to Chickies Ridge could be an option. If you have a bike, you can ride along the scenic River Trail from Columbia, PA. This route is about 8 miles long and offers beautiful views of the Susquehanna River. After reaching the park entrance, you can lock your bike and continue on foot to the ridge.
