If you are driving, start from the center of Northern Tier. Head southwest on PA-6 W toward US-15 S for about 35 miles until you reach US-15 S. Take exit 212A toward I-180 E/US-220 S and merge onto I-180 E. Continue on I-180 E for about 35 miles. Merge onto I-76 E toward Philadelphia. After about 120 miles, take exit 344A toward US-30 E. Continue on US-30 E for about 4 miles, then take the exit toward I-95 S. Merge onto I-95 S and continue for about 5 miles. Take exit 45 toward PA-3 W and merge onto Avenue of the Republic. Smith Memorial Arch will be on your right. There is typically no cost for parking, but check local regulations upon arrival.
Public Transportation
If using public transportation, first take a Greyhound or Megabus from Northern Tier to Philadelphia. The journey typically takes about 4-5 hours. Once you arrive at the Philadelphia Bus Terminal, transfer to the SEPTA subway. Take the Market-Frankford Line toward 69th Street Terminal and get off at the 69th Street stop. From there, transfer to the 101 trolley line toward Media. Get off at the stop for Avenue of the Republic, and Smith Memorial Arch will be in walking distance. Be sure to check the SEPTA website for the latest fare information; a one-way ticket typically costs around $2.50.
