If you are starting from the main square (Plaza de Armas) in Chiclayo, head east on Calle José Balta for about 5 blocks until you reach Avenida José León de Huerta. Turn left (north) onto Avenida José León de Huerta and walk for about 10 minutes. You will pass several shops and restaurants. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Calle Roca. Mercado Modelo de Chiclayo will be on your right, just before you reach the intersection.

From the Plaza de Armas, look for a bus heading towards 'Urb. José Leonardo Ortiz'. Board any bus that is labeled for this neighborhood. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Inform the bus conductor that you want to get off at Mercado Modelo. Once you get off, the market will be visible within a short walking distance. You can also ask locals for directions if needed.
