Five days well spent
Looking back, I think five days was a very good length. We saw the major highlights but still had enough time to actually enjoy the places instead of running from one attraction to another.

Standing by Humantay Lake shivering with a hot cup of tea, then standing on top of Vinicunca, and ending at the Sun Gate—it's a physical test that rewards you with insane landscapes. The local guides knew exactly when to pace us so we didn't burn out before reaching Machu Picchu.

Our food tour with Carla was incredible and will likely be a highlight of our trip. Carla was extremely knowledgeable and taught us so much about Cusco and Peru. We got to try a wide variety of food with the perfect portion sizes, although definitely go into it hungry!! Excellent value for money with the amount of time, food and essentially walking tour of the city. DO IT!
