Walking
From the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, head northwest towards the Calle Santa Catalina. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenida del Sol. Turn left onto Avenida del Sol and walk for about 10 minutes until you reach the bus terminal at Calle 28 de Julio. From there, look for a bus heading to Lares. The buses are usually marked with their destinations. Once you board the bus, enjoy the scenic ride which will take approximately 2 hours. The bus will drop you off at the entrance to Lares Trek. Make sure to ask the driver to let you know when you arrive at Lares Trek.
Taxi
If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from Plaza de Armas to the bus terminal located at Calle 28 de Julio. It should take about 5-10 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the bus terminal, find a bus heading to Lares. After about a 2-hour bus ride, you will be dropped off at the entrance to Lares Trek. Confirm with the driver that you are headed to Lares Trek before you depart.
Group Tour
Another great option is to book a group tour that includes transportation to Lares Trek. Many tour companies in Cusco offer packages that include a guide, meals, and transportation. You can find these companies near Plaza de Armas or through your hotel. Make sure to book in advance, as tours can fill up quickly, especially during peak season.
