Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
From the San Pedro Market, head northwest on Avenida Pardo towards the Plaza San Francisco. Continue straight until you reach the Plaza de Armas, which should take about 10-15 minutes. From the Plaza de Armas, walk towards the northeast corner and take the road that leads uphill towards the Saqsaywaman entrance signs. The walk will take around 20-30 minutes from here, and you will be hiking up a gentle slope through the streets of Cusco.
Taxi
If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from San Pedro Market. Just approach any taxi driver and tell them 'Saqsaywaman' or show them the name on your phone. The fare should be around 10-15 soles. The drive will take about 10 minutes due to the uphill route.
Collectivo
You can also take a 'collectivo' (shared taxi) from near the San Pedro Market. Look for a collectivo heading towards the 'Saqsaywaman' or 'Qenqo' destination. The cost is usually around 3-5 soles. Once you get dropped off at the entrance of Saqsaywaman, it will be a short walk to the ticket booth.
