Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head to the town of Ollantaytambo, which is located approximately 70 kilometers (about 1.5 to 2 hours) from Cusco. Take the route via the Pardo Avenue and then follow the signs to Urubamba. Once you reach Urubamba, turn onto the road towards Ollantaytambo. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, look for parking areas near the Ollantaytambo Sanctuary. Parking may incur a fee of around 10 to 20 soles.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Cusco, you can take a bus to Ollantaytambo. Head to the 'Pavitos' bus station located on Av. Pardo. Look for buses heading to Ollantaytambo; the journey typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and costs around 10 to 15 soles. Once you arrive at the Ollantaytambo bus terminal, you can walk to the Ollantaytambo Sanctuary, which is about a 15-minute walk from the terminal. Follow the main road (Av. Ferrocarril) towards the sanctuary.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. This option is more expensive, usually costing between 150 to 250 soles depending on negotiation and time of day. The taxi will take you directly to the entrance of the Ollantaytambo Sanctuary, which is very convenient for transporting luggage or if you are traveling in a group.

• Train

  If you prefer train travel, you can take a train from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. The train departs from the Poroy station, which is about 20 minutes from Cusco city center. Check the schedule and book tickets in advance, as prices vary based on the service and time of booking (typically ranging from 60 to 120 soles). The train will take you directly to Ollantaytambo station, and from there, it's a short walk to the sanctuary.
