Public Transportation
From the main square in Cusco (Plaza de Armas), you can take a public bus to Ollantaytambo. Look for buses labeled 'Ollantaytambo' near the Plaza. The ride takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and the fare is around 10-15 soles. Once you arrive in Ollantaytambo, you will need to transfer to a taxi or a shuttle service that will take you to the Inca Trail entrance at Piscacucho (Km 82) for about 50 soles.
Car Rental
If you prefer to drive, you can rent a car in Cusco. Head northwest on Av. El Sol until you reach the main road leading out of the city. Follow signs to Ollantaytambo. The journey takes around 1.5 hours. From Ollantaytambo, continue driving toward the Inca Trail entrance at Piscacucho (Km 82). There are parking areas available near the entrance, but ensure to arrive early as spaces may fill up quickly.
Tour Agency Shuttle
Many travel agencies in Cusco offer shuttle services directly to the Inca Trail. Visit a local tour agency on Av. El Sol, like the one at Av. El Sol 310-C, and inquire about their shuttle services. These usually cost around 70-100 soles and can pick you up from your hotel or a designated meeting point in Cusco. Ensure to book your spot in advance, as these shuttles fill up quickly during peak seasons.
