Boat
To get to Bosque de Huayo, start by taking a boat from the main port in Iquitos. Look for a boat heading towards Nauta, as this route is generally used to access various points along the Amazon River. Make sure to confirm with the boat operator that they can take you to Varillal, which is near Bosque de Huayo. The boat ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at the dock in Varillal, you will be close to your destination.
Motorbike Taxi
Once you arrive in Varillal, hire a motorbike taxi (moto-taxi) directly from the dock. Let the driver know you want to go to Bosque de Huayo. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye out for the signposts or ask locals for directions to ensure you are heading the right way.
Walking (if necessary)
If you prefer to walk the last part, you can do so from the Varillal dock. Head southeast on Carr. Iquitos-Nauta for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs for Bosque de Huayo along the way. It’s a straightforward walk, but make sure to stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes, as the path may be uneven.
