After about 5 kilometers, you will reach a parking area where you can leave your car. From the parking area, you will need to hike for about 1 hour through the scenic paths that lead to Lagunas Cuncanicocha.

Start by taking a local bus or colectivo (shared taxi) from Lares to Huaran. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes. Once in Huaran, you will need to transfer to another colectivo heading towards Cuncani. Inform the driver that you are headed to Cuncani; the fare is typically around 5-10 soles. After arriving in Cuncani, you will need to hike for approximately 1 hour to reach Lagunas Cuncanicocha.
