Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest town to the Lares Trek, which is Lares. From Lares, take the road heading northwest towards Huacahuasi. After approximately 10 km, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which leads towards Pucamarca. Continue on this road for about 5 km until you see signs for Pucamarca. The road may be unpaved in some sections, so proceed with caution. Parking may be limited, so plan to park in designated areas.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Pucamarca via public transport, start by taking a colectivo (shared taxi) from Lares to Huacahuasi. These colectivos run frequently and cost around 10-15 soles. Once you arrive in Huacahuasi, you will need to arrange for a local taxi to take you to Pucamarca. This taxi ride will cost approximately 30-40 soles and should take about 20 minutes. It's advisable to negotiate the price before beginning your journey.

  For the adventurous, you can hike to Pucamarca from Lares Trek. This trek will take you through stunning landscapes and local villages. Start early in the morning to ensure you have enough daylight. Follow the trails indicated on your trekking map, heading northwest towards Pucamarca. The hike can take approximately 3-4 hours, depending on your pace and the trail conditions. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
