Car
If you are traveling by car from Loreto, start by heading to Avenida José de la Guerra, which is one of the main roads in the city. Follow this road north until you reach the intersection with Calle Saramuro. Turn left onto Calle Saramuro, and continue straight. After approximately 5 kilometers, you will see signs for the Tapiche Reserve. The road will become unpaved; continue on this road for about 12 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the reserve. Be prepared for potentially rough road conditions and ensure your vehicle has good clearance.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a taxi or a local minibus (known as 'colectivos') from Loreto to the nearest town, which is San Lorenzo. Fare should be around 10-15 soles. Once in San Lorenzo, you will need to hire a local guide or taxi to take you to the Tapiche Reserve, as public transport directly to the reserve is limited. The guide will know the best routes and can help navigate the unpaved roads. Expect to pay around 50 soles for this part of the journey.
-
Guided Tour
Consider booking a guided tour that includes transportation from Loreto to Tapiche Reserve. Many eco-tourism companies offer packages that cover the trip, entrance fees, and guided experiences within the reserve. This is a great option for those unfamiliar with the area, as the guides will handle all logistics. Prices vary, but expect to pay around 200-300 soles per person for a full-day tour, including lunch.
