I did the classic Inka Trail with Panaka Travel in July. It was a transcendent experience which I will cherish for the rest of my life. I can't thank Lizandro and his incredible team at Panaka Travel enough for making my journey comfortable, informative and fun. I highly recommend their services. They provided everything I needed and picked me up from my hotel and delivered me to my destination after the tour. Panaka travel is also 100 pct owned and operated by Peruvians who grew up in the Andes and speak Quechua, the Inca language. They live and breathe Inca traditions. I had an amazing guide named Saul Deyson who made sure I was safe and well taken care of. He was a fount for Inca history and the natural world. A highlight was Saul showing me the llama in the starry sky each night. Saul was joined by a chef and three porters who served our group. The food was incredible. We got soup at every meal and new main dish everyday. The chef even baked a cake! Our porters were amazing too. Their endurance is astonishing and they all worked relentlessly to set up our camp and transport our goods. The trail was difficult but so rewarding, especially after you walk through the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu on the fourth morning. Panaka Travel is your ticket for an amazing experience in Peru. Note: I also used Lizandro for a tour of Cusco and Saqsaywaman. A highlight was visiting a textile collective of Peruvian crafts above the city. The collective includes a mini-farm of llama and alpacas.
