Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest town along the Salkantay Trail, usually Mollepata or Soraypampa. From Mollepata, head southwest on the road towards the town of Limatambo. After approximately 30 minutes, turn right onto the road leading to the trailhead. Follow the signs towards the Salkantay Pass. After about 1 hour of driving on this gravel road, you'll reach a parking area near the trailhead. From there, you'll need to hike approximately 1 hour to reach Ruinas de Qhalispuqyo, following the trail that leads up into the hills.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus or collectivo from Cusco to Mollepata. The journey takes about 2-3 hours and costs around 10-15 soles. Once in Mollepata, you will need to hire a taxi or take another collectivo to the Salkantay trailhead. This additional trip should cost about 20-30 soles and take about 30 minutes. After arriving at the trailhead, you'll need to hike for approximately 1 hour to reach the Ruinas de Qhalispuqyo.
