Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the main city in the South Coast region, such as Arequipa or Ica. Head north on the Panamerican Highway (Route 1) towards Trujillo. When you reach Trujillo, follow the signs for Huanchaco. Once in Huanchaco, navigate to VWVG+Q5C, which is the location of Chan Chan. Parking is available nearby, but be mindful of local parking regulations.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From major cities such as Arequipa or Ica, take a long-distance bus to Trujillo. Companies like Cruz del Sur and Oltursa offer comfortable services. Once in Trujillo, you can take a local taxi or a shared van (combi) to Huanchaco, which is approximately 12 kilometers away. Inform the driver that you want to go to Chan Chan, and they will drop you off at the appropriate location, VWVG+Q5C.

If you're already in Trujillo, you can hire a local taxi directly to Chan Chan. Make sure to agree on a fare before starting the journey. The trip from Trujillo to Chan Chan should cost around 15 to 25 soles, depending on your negotiation skills and traffic conditions.
Walking
If you're staying in Huanchaco, Chan Chan is within reasonable walking distance. The archaeological site is about 3 kilometers from the center of Huanchaco. You can walk along the beach promenade, enjoying the views, or take the main road towards VWVG+Q5C. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on sunny days.
