Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the main town of Puerto Maldonado. From the town center, head southeast on Avenida Jorge Basadre towards the intersection with Avenida Dos de Mayo. Continue straight along Avenida Dos de Mayo until you reach the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. Follow the signs towards the Sandoval Lake area. Once you reach the Sandoval Lake entrance, you will need to park your car at the designated area. Note that there may be a parking fee of approximately 10-20 soles. After parking, continue on foot to the lake, then hire a boat to take you across Sandoval Lake to the Monkey viewing point, which is located at coordinates CWQX+CF, Sandoval 17000.

If you prefer public transportation, first take a colectivo (shared taxi) from Puerto Maldonado to the entrance of Tambopata National Reserve. The ride will cost around 10-15 soles per person and takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the entrance, you will still need to walk to Sandoval Lake. There are often local guides available for hire who can assist you in getting to the lake and arranging a boat to the Monkey viewing point.
