Excellent half-day excursion

A perfectly organized activity. The transportation was comfortable, the group was not large, and the tour had a pleasant pace. Raúl explained every detail with great knowledge and enthusiasm. We especially enjoyed the story related to the Lady of Cao and the role she played within Mochica society.

Interesting archeological finds.

There's a lot of history of the Peruvian culture still buried underground. But what they have discovered so far is quite interesting. We visited the Moon and Sun temples and the Chan Chan citadel. There was a lot of walking outside in the heat so be aware and protected from the sun. The Peruvian roads are a bit rough, so don't worry - the drivers are good and careful. Listen to the history and appreciate what you hear.

While Norte Expedition is not cheap, we did not regret hiring Dilser to help us discover Huaca de la Luna, Chan Chan, Huanchaco, El Brujo (which we highly recommend), the Lambayake/Sican sites of Batan Grande and Tucume (which unfortunately are not yet very much open to tourists, the sites are huge but only a small part is visible to tourists) and the Huaca Rajada Archaeological Complex where the treasures of the Lord of Sipan where found. Dilser is very knowledgeable, and points out the right things so that we keep on thinking as we are discovering the sites and the civilizations who built them. He is very professional, but also very personable, and we very much enjoyed spending time with him, also discussing the Peruvian economy, politics, and the state of the world. We hired him for 4 non contiguous day, in order to accommodate our and his schedule and it worked perfectly. I would recommend, if you can, to maybe not try to see both Huaca de la Luna and Chan Chan the same day, as they are both huge and very interesting. If you choose to hire Norte Expedition, we would recommend trying to book a bit in advance, as he is, understandingly, busy.
