The final stretch is a dirt road; ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road driving. Take note that fuel stations may be limited, so refuel in Butuan if necessary.

For those using public transport, board a bus bound for Remedios T. Romualdez at the Butuan City Bus Terminal. The fare is approximately PHP 50-70, and the journey takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the town proper, you can hire a local motorcycle taxi (habal-habal) to take you to the base of Mount Hilong-hilong. Expect to pay around PHP 200-300 for the motorcycle ride, depending on your negotiation skills and the distance to the trailhead.
